This unique Mercedes-Benz 630K, chassis number 32019, features a short chassis and a sporty four-seater convertible body built by the renowned British coachbuilder Thomas Harrington Ltd. in Brighton. It is powered by a Type 630 supercharged engine, engine number 60434.

According to the factory records, the car was delivered to British Mercedes-Benz Ltd. in London on 13 April 1927. After receiving its Harrington bodywork, it survived the war years and subsequently passed through the hands of several British collectors.

In 1978, the 630K Harrington was offered at auction in London and sold to a collector based in Thailand. Shipped to Bangkok, it was immediately seized by customs and placed in storage. In the 1980s, Thai industrialist and collector Kobsak Chinawongwatana succeeded in acquiring the car. It then remained in the family for almost twenty years.

In 2002, renowned German restorer Klaus Kienle and his son Alexander travelled to Bangkok to inspect the Mercedes. The car was almost complete, but completely worn and neglected: nothing worked and a full restoration was required. It was eventually entrusted to Kienle Automobiltechnik GmbH in Ditzingen for a complete restoration.

Following its restoration, the 630K became the centrepiece of a temporary exhibition of classic cars in Bangkok. It was subsequently acquired by Symbolic Motor Car Company and imported into the United States, where it became part of collections including the Blackhawk Collection in California.

In 2014, after several unsuccessful attempts to sell the car at auction, the Mercedes was finally sold to Nicholas Schorsch, owner of the Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport, Rhode Island.

In 2017, the car participated in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in its black livery. It was later restored once again. During this restoration, traces of its original green paint were reportedly discovered. The body was therefore repainted in this colour, while the interior was trimmed in dark green leather. A new dark beige soft top completed the car’s new appearance.

It was in this configuration that the car appeared at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2024.

This exceptional Mercedes-Benz 630K Sport Tourer with Harrington coachwork remains, as of 2025, part of the collection of the Audrain Automobile Museum.
